Teen sensation Alex Scott has joined Bournemouth from Bristol City, but a knee injury is set to postpone his debut in the Premier League.
Bristol City’s manager Nigel Pearson officially confirmed on Wednesday evening that Scott had been granted permission to engage in discussions with the Premier League team. Subsequently, on Thursday, both clubs jointly announced the successful completion of the transfer.
Scott, 19, earned recognition as the Sky Bet Championship’s young player of the 2022-23 season due to his exceptional displays on the field. His remarkable performances garnered significant interest from various Premier League clubs.
Scott’s transfer to Bournemouth is rumored to have a value surpassing 20m pounds. However, he was unable to participate in Bristol City’s first two matches of the current season due to a swollen knee.

Upon revealing the transfer, Bournemouth stated that the scans conducted on Scott’s knee issue unveiled a more substantial injury than initially thought. Consequently, the midfielder is scheduled for a period of rehabilitation before he eventually links up with his new teammates.
According to Bournemouth’s chief executive, Neill Blake, the club believes they have secured the acquisition of “one of the most promising young talents in Europe.”
“He’s a player that has vast experience at such a young age with strong technical ability and a really good footballing brain,” Blake said on the club’s website.
“Alex will be an excellent fit in our system, and we’re excited to see him continue to develop under Andoni’s management.”
Hailing from Guernsey, Scott marked his senior in April 2021. Throughout his tenure at Ashton Gate, he netted five goals in the Championship across 83 appearances.
In addition to his club performance, Scott has also showcased his skills on the international stage, representing England in various youth competitions. Notably, he contributed to England’s campaign in this year’s Under-20 World Cup, playing in three matches.
Bournemouth, under the tutelage of manager Andoni Iraola who was appointed in June following Gary O’Neil’s dismissal, are poised to kick off the upcoming Premier League season with a home fixture against West Ham on Saturday.
