“People” Accuses Biden Administration in the Trump Assassination Attempt

On Sunday, the Kremlin stated that it did not hold the U.S. administration accountable for the assassination attempt on U.S. presidential candidate Donald Trump. However, it accused the administration of fostering an atmosphere that incited the attack. Trump was shot in the ear during a Pennsylvania rally. The incident is now under intensive investigation as an assassination attempt. The assailant was killed, and law enforcement officials have not yet determined a motive.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov informs reporters, ” We do not believe that the attempt to eliminate and assassinate Trump was orchestrated by the current authorities.”

“But the atmosphere around candidate Trump…. provoked what America is confronting today.”

U.S. President Joe Biden denounced the attack, emphasizing that such violence had no place in America. Peskov echoed Biden’s stance, emphasizing Russia’s condemnation of any violence in political conflicts.

His remarks mirrored statements made by some of Trump’s Republican supporters, who promptly attributed blame to Biden’s government.

“After numerous attempts to remove candidate Trump from the political arena. Using first legal tools, the courts, and prosecutors, attempt to politically discredit and compromise the candidate. It was obvious to all outside observers that this life was in danger,” Peskov said.

Peskov clarified that President Vladimir Putin had no immediate plans to contact Trump following the incident. Putin has previously indicated that Russia does not anticipate significant changes from the U.S. presidential election and criticized Trump’s president for straining U.S.-Russia relations. Despite this, Putin has shown interest in Trump’s statements regarding potentially ending the Ukraine conflict, although he emphasized support for peace efforts without detailed knowledge of Trump’s proposals.

Following Saturday’s attack, global leaders, including Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelesky, swiftly condemned the violence, denounced political aggression, and wished Trump a speedy recovery.

Regarding the incident, Peskov and Russia’s foreign ministry referenced the historical U.S. presidential assassination to highlight perceived security vulnerabilities within the United States. Vyacheslav Volodin, Speaker of Russia’s lower house of parliament, attributed the attack to America’s internal political crisis, societal division, and what he described as Washington’s intrusive foreign policies.

Volodon also suggested that Trump’s stance on Ukraine might have played a role in the attack, noting Trump’s public call to cease military sponsorship. Russia’s foreign ministry used the shooting to urge the United States to redirect its focus away from funding Ukraine’s military and toward enhancing domestic law enforcement capabilities.

Russia’s extensive military actions in Ukraine since 2022 have strained its relations with Western countries to levels not seen since the Cold War’s peak.

When asked about the potential impact on the upcoming U.S. election’s legitimacy, Peskov declined to comment, affirming that it was a matter for the United States to decide without Russian interference.
