On the opening day of the Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) recruitment exercise in Mandera count. More than 400 youths turns up with aspiration of joining the discipline forces. Unveiling the sticking striking gender gap in recruitment. The enthusiastic turnout was a sense of dedication and patriotism among the young men in the region.

At the mass recruitment exercise in Madera, a noticeable gender gap emerged. Only for young women participating compare to a large number of aspiring male candidates.
In the process, Senior Recruiting Officer Lt. Col. Paul Njue expressed satisfaction with the initial turnout. He emphasize that the encouraging number have been notable.
Lt. Col Njue also pointed out that, a significant number of youths were disqualified from the exercise. Some due to possessing fraudulent documents. While others were ineligible due to not meeting the minimum qualifications standards.
Bribery and other acts of corruption are against the law and any one suspected of being culpable of such, will be arrested and prosecuted in a court of law. KDF recruitment is absolutely FREE TO ALL.

He went on to highlight that there have been no reported incidents of bribery among the recruits. He also mentioned that they would conduct meticulous checks to ensures the recruitment of deserving candidates.
The KDF recruitment began on August 28 and is scheduled to run until September 8, 2023.
While officiating the start of the annuals exercise, Vice Chief of Defense Jonah Mwangi emphasized the force’s commitment to conducting a transparent and accountable recruitment excercise.
“Members of the public are advised from Fraud since it violates KDF values more so the value of Integrity,” Mwangi said.
