Shou Zi Chew, TikTok’s CEO, says, TikTok office is going to be established in Kenya to better and manage how the application works in Africa continent at large.
Chew shared the announcement on Thursday, 24 of August, during a virtual meeting with President Dr William Samoe Ruto. Trade Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria and Economic Adviser Adan Hussein were also present at the meeting.
“During the meeting, Chew pledge to hire more Kenyans to work for TikTok,” read a statement by state House communication team.
The CEO also said they would make sure the things people post on the application follows the rules of the community.
Following this convention, it signifies that the inappropriate content or offensive content will be remove completely from the platform.
The topic of explicit and inappropriate content was brought up in the National Assembly when the businessman Bob Ndolo introduced a motion to prohibit the platform.

The lawmakers proposed that instead of banning the app, there should be regulation to manage negative content share on it.
