Gonzalez emphasized that this incident serves as a reminder of the immense danger and recklessness associated with handling a loaded firearm with a moving vehicle.
It was reported, the 16-year-old was holding a pistol while operating a sedan that had three teenage passengers aboard. Two others aged 16 and one aged 17 years.
The pistol went off when the sedan slowly bumped into the car ahead. Deputies stated that the driver of the hit car is okay but a bit shaken.
Sheriff Gonzalez mention the chance that the driver might have been playing with the gun, causing it to fire. The investigation into the exact details is still ongoing.
“At this point, we’re trying to conduct the investigation. We still want to confirm some details, make sure that we are getting the full story,” Gonzalez said.
“The initial story is that the driver himself was handling the pistol when it discharge. But again, that could always change. we could get additional information to determine that one of the other occupants could have discharge the weapon.”
Gonzalez stated that investigators don’t have any reason to think the shot came from anywhere other than inside the vehicle.
