This caused a prolong period of pressure on Aaron Ramsdale’s goal, especially towards the end. Tyrick Mitchell shot over the goal, but the home team could not find a way to break Arsenal strong defense. Mikel Arteta’s team held on for a victory, which puts them at the same points level as Brighton and Machester City at the top of the Premier League.
Palace now sit in 11th place as they could not build on their narrow 1-0 win against Sheffield United on the first weekend of the season. They also couldn’t take advantage of the extra player they had after Tomiyasu received a red card and sent off the match.
Arteta commented on his team’s performance , saying, “I loved it. I absolutely loved it. it’s a really difficult place to come. We played how we wanted to play against 11, we dominated and created enough chances. we had two huge chances and normally he put them away but we never gave up.
“We continued playing the way we wanted to and Edie earned us the right to go ahead with his action. Then we had to play the final half an hour with 10 men which is a context that we didn’t prepared but we had to adapt and the players we fantastic as I don’t think we gave anything away. I’m really happy”
