Manchester United is maintaining that no final decision has been reached concerning the future of Mason Greenwood.
Top officials had initially intended to reveal the result of a six and a half month investigation on Greenwood before the season’s start, but decided to postpone.
On February 2nd, Greater Manchester Police revealed that charges against 21 year old Greenwood had been dismissed. The charges included attempted rape, involvement in controlling and coercive behavior as well as assault. Throughout the process, Greenwood consistently denied all the accusations.
Since January22, 2022, Greenwood hasn’t participated in any matches for United and denied to train with the team. The ultimate verdict on Greenwood’s situation will rest with Chief Executive Richard Arnold.
In a statement issued on Wednesday afternoon, it was mentioned:” After dismissal of all charges against Mason Greenwood in February 2023, Manchester United has conducted a comprehensive inquiry into the accusations leveled against him.
“This process has entailed a through examination of substantial evidence and contextual information that hasn’t been publicly disclosed. We have engaged with numerous individual directly connected to or well informed about this situation.
“Throughout this investigation, the well being and viewpoint of the alleged victim have remained central to our inquiries. We uphold her right to lifelong anonymity.
“We also acknowledge our responsibilities towards Mason Greenwood as an employee and as a young player who has been part of the team since the age of seven.
“The phase of gathering information and facts for our inquiry has concluded, and we are now in the final stage of reaching to the ultimate conclusion about Greenwood’s future.
“Contrary to speculations in the media, this decision has not been finalized yet, and is presently undergoing extensive internal discussions. The ultimate responsibility lies with the Chief Executive Officer.
“Once a decision is reached, it will be conveyed and elucidated to both the club’s internal members and external stakeholder.”

“Greenwood consistently refuted all accusations. On statement released he expressed,” I am relieved that this matter is now over and I would like to thank my family, loved ones and friends for their support.”

Greenwood Energized training seasons: A display of Power and Dedications
United has been receiving updates on Greenwood’s training sessions as he maintains his training regimen independently from the club. Following the dismissal of charges, he has not resumed training at United’s Carrington training facility.
Good news is that, Greenwood’s contract with United extends until 2025, with a potential extension of one more year. His most recent appearance for the club was in a 1- 0 victory against West Ham on January 22,2022.
Finally, Greenwood has participated in 129 matches for Manchester United and has achieved 3 goals. He made his debut for England national team against Iceland in September 2022.
